Life at The Grand Prairie: Tranquil Living with Easy Access to Hockley Grocery Stores and Amenities.

January 30, 2024

It’s not always the amenities within a community that weighs on a home decision. Often, it’s the proximity of things, especially when you’re constantly stocking the pantry of an active family, on a last-minute wine run for a book club or are prone to the occasional, late-night ice cream craving. Luckily, there is no shortage of specialty markets and grocery stores within and near Hockley, Texas, all an easy drive from The Grand Prairie.

For quick runs, Arlan’s in Waller is a community staple, while Cypress is brimming with options ranging from big box  H-E-B and Kroger to popular membership club, Costco are just some Hockley grocery stores that are nearby.

Something harder to find in the city center, however, are the unique, family-owned stores that give the area its unique flavor. A case in point is Victoria’s Natural Market, the place to peruse when seeking out organic and local goods. Set on a rural property just inside the Grand Parkway between highways 290 and 249, the shopping destination hosts farmers’ market vendors in a grocery store-style setting, spotlighting premium quality meats, eggs, milk, produce, cheese and honey. It’s a great opportunity to support our neighboring farmers and ranchers.

Worth the drive is Smitty’s Meat Market & Smokehouse, a family-owned meat market, smokehouse and game processor in Tomball. Look for a variety of in-house fresh and smoked meats, in addition to a selection of rubs, marinades, seasonings and a line of Texas-made pure cane sodas. Stock up with meat family packs perfect to freeze.
