Founded in 1887, Waller ISD covers an impressive 328 square miles and borders some of the area’s most recognized districts, including Katy, Cypress-Fairbanks, and Tomball. Our Schools
Holleman Elementary: Building Bright Futures
Holleman Elementary, one of seven elementary schools in Waller ISD, offers an engaging and nurturing learning environment for students from pre-K through 5th grade. Named after long-time educator I.T. Holleman, the school continues his legacy of academic excellence and student support.
Holleman offers a wide range of enrichment and support programs designed to meet students where they are and help them grow. These include school-wide Title 1 Reading and Math, a dyslexia program, Leveled Literacy instruction, and the Discovery Gifted and Talented Program. Beyond the classroom, students can participate in extracurricular activities such as the Student Council and Chess Club.
When it comes to trails and lakes, The Grand Prairie has plenty. Miles of interconnected trails already wind through the community, and many of our lakes, including our 70-acre Lake Ember, are ideal for catch-and-release fishing, kayaking, and canoeing.
Holleman Elementary also welcomes parent involvement through its volunteer programs, where dedicated individuals make an immeasurable impact by giving their time and talents to the school community.
Waller Junior High: Exploring Passions, Discovering Paths
Waller Junior High serves students in grades six through eight, offering a pivotal bridge between foundational academics and specialized exploration. Students can begin charting their career interests early with access to an impressive roster of Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses, ranging from business and health science to agriculture, culinary arts, IT, law enforcement, and more. These programs empower students to try new skills and imagine their futures with confidence.
Waller High School: Preparing Students for What’s Next
At Waller High School, students in grades nine through 12 benefit from a comprehensive academic and extracurricular experience. The school offers dual-credit and AP courses, articulation agreements with Lone Star College, and more than 90 CTE courses across 22 fields of study.
Whether students are interested in engineering, finance, cosmetology, or drone technology, there’s a pathway for them to gain real-world experience while still in high school. The school also provides tutoring and credit recovery resources to ensure every student stays on track.
Outside the classroom, students can participate in a wide range of athletic, fine arts, and agricultural programs. The school competes in 6A UIL events and consistently brings home honors in academics, robotics, culinary arts, FFA, JROTC, and more.
New Schools on the Horizon
As the community grows, so does Waller ISD — introducing thoughtfully planned new schools designed to serve the families of The Grand Prairie for years to come.
Warren Ranch High School is set to open in 2028, continuing Waller ISD’s tradition of academic excellence while honoring the legacy of the land it’s named for. Just behind it, construction on Larry D. Johnson Junior High is expected to begin in 2027, with doors opening in 2029 to up to 1,500 students.
Even more exciting? A future on-site elementary school is included in The Grand Prairie’s master plan, ensuring families will have walkable access to top-tier education right in their neighborhood.
